The Rose Garden at the Flower Festival Commemorative Park is one of the largest rose gardens in Japan with 1603 varities and 41,000 plants. This large and beautiful rose garden includes the International Rose Trials as well as a display garden of Hybrid Teas, Floribundas, English Roses, Old Roses and many species roses. Special areas are set aside for Japan, the United Kingdom, France and other countries. There are also areas called "the English Roses Corner", "the Path of Old Roses" and "the Valley of Species Roses".
Of special interest is the "Valley of Species Roses" where a number of species and interspecific varieties collected from all over the world have been planted. This garden makes the most of its geographical features and offers visitors a sense of "wilderness". The Valley is divided into several zones based on botanical classification.
Unique old rose varieties are planted in chronological order in the "Path of Old Roses", allowing visitors to trace the history of rose cultivation in Japan.
