16th World Federation of Rose Societies Convention

The Federation of Rose Societies of South Africa invites rose lovers the world over to attend the 16th World Rose Convention. The Convention will include lectures, a rose exhibition, garden visits as well as photo opportunities and a chance to network with fellow rosarians.

Thurs., October 11, 2012 All day Registration desk open
  Afternoon Delegates return from pre-convention tour
  Early evening

  2. Opening of rose show, photographic and other exhibitions
Fri., October 12, 2012 Morning ose show, photographic and other exhibitions open to delegates and public
  Late morning Opening Ceremony and welcome followed by lunch and viewing of Vodaworld rose garden
Sat., October 13, 2012 All day Exhibitions open to delegates and public
  Morning Visit to Ludwig's Roses to view over a million rose bushes in full bloom and meet some of thier breeders
  14h30 - 17h00 World class flower demonstrations given by renowned South African flower arrangers and international flower arranging maestro, David Ruston
  Evening Musical concert
Sun., October 14, 2012 Early morning Church servce for those who wish to attend
  Full day

Visit to Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site to view the fossilised remains of hominids (Mrs Ples) & other ancient forms of animals and plants

Mon., October 15, 2012 All day Visit to Pretoria - local sightseeing, meander through the magnificent Pretoria Botanical Gardens and enjoy a picnic lunch

Pre-Convention Tour to the Pilanesberg National Park

October 9-11, 2012 Capture the spirit of Africa at Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge, where Mother Nature and civilization meet in perfect harmony. Located on the slopes of an ancient volcano, the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park has a rich array of southern African wildlife including the Big Five. Post-Convention Tour to Bloemfontein and Cape Town

October 19 2012 The City of Bloemfontein, well known as the rose capital of South Africa, will host convention delegates the first night of this tour. Their breath taking annual summer rose show and competition, as well as beautiful public and private gardens, will be the main features of this visit.
October 20-23 2012

An early evening flight will transport tour participants to “the fairest Cape in all the world” where roses were first introduced over 350 years ago. Delegates will be treated to visits to the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at the base of Table Mountain, the Stellenbosch Winelands, the Durbanville trial garden, private gardens and much, much more
